The legendary group Young Power has relaunched with a refreshed and strengthened lineup - Young Power New Edition. In addition to the former members, the band features the most talented of the youngest jazz generation. The band was formed in 1986 by prominent flutist Krzysztof Popek and drummer Krzysztof Zawadzki (Walk Away). It was an attraction of the biggest festivals and enthusiastically received by the industry audiences at home and abroad. The very name of the band contained a manifesto and a challenge.

The band's first success was its participation in the 1986 "Jazz nad Odra" festival, after which critics began to talk about Young Power in the context of the "changing of the guard" on the Polish jazz scene. Confirmation of the band's skills and aspirations turned out to be the 1987 album debut "Young Power" - and the monthly Jazz Forum magazine named the band as big band of the year, and elected its leader, K. Popek, musician of the year.

In 1986-87 they performed at the Jazz Jamboree already as Young Power Second Edition with a repertoire based mainly on their own compositions and arrangements. It also toured abroad in West Germany and Sweden. In 1990 the band unexpectedly suspended its activities and many of the band's musicians, decided to form their own groups. The leader and author of most of Young Power's repertoire was Krzysztof Popek, an outstanding flutist, composer and arranger. (Since 1988, Popek has been voted flutist of the year by Jazz Forum magazine every year. He continues to record to this day, collaborating with outstanding musicians).
