Adam Bałdych is regarded as one of the most acclaimed and original violinists on the contemporary jazz scene. A composer, improviser, and recording artist associated with the prestigious ACT Music label, he has captivated audiences for years with a unique musical language in which jazz meets classical music, European tradition, and fearless improvisation. British newspaper The Guardian wrote that “Adam Bałdych redefines the violin,” while the German Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described him as “the most technically advanced violinist of our times.”
The artist’s new project, Adam Bałdych European Quartet, brings together four outstanding personalities of European jazz whose work actively shapes the sound of contemporary improvised music. The result of this collaboration is the album “Endless”, scheduled for release in 2026. The very concept of the project is rooted in a dialogue between cultures, traditions, and musical experiences, creating a contemplative journey through sounds and emotions deeply embedded in Europe’s musical heritage.
For this project, Bałdych invited three remarkable artists representing distinct musical worlds. Each musician contributes a highly individual artistic voice to the quartet. Jakob Karlzon, one of Sweden’s leading jazz pianists, is renowned for his emotional playing and his ability to create spacious, cinematic musical narratives. Daniele di Bonaventura has spent years developing a unique language for the bandoneon, blending jazz, Mediterranean music, and classical influences. Michel Benita, the acclaimed French double bassist, has collaborated with some of the most distinguished figures on the European improvised music scene, earning recognition for his exceptional sensitivity and musical subtlety. Together, they create an ensemble whose sound balances silence, space, and intense improvisation.
The quartet’s music grows out of Bałdych’s fascination with Renaissance polyphony and contemporary classical music, while remaining deeply rooted in jazz freedom and openness to spontaneous exploration. The compositions featured in the “Endless” project are filled with contrasts: subtle, almost meditative passages evolve into tension filled instrumental dialogues, while lyrical melodies intertwine with daring improvisation and the modern sound of European jazz.
This is deeply organic and emotional music that does not impose interpretation, but instead invites the listener into attentive participation. Every sound seems meaningful, while the space between the notes becomes just as important as the melodies themselves. “Endless” is far more than a concert project by four outstanding instrumentalists. It is a multilayered musical story about dialogue, listening, and mutual trust between artists meeting beyond the borders of cultures and styles.
Audiences can expect a concert full of focus, emotion, and exceptional musical communication. It is a proposal for listeners who appreciate open, modern jazz deeply rooted in European sensibility. A musical journey one truly wishes to return to endlessly.
